Welcome to the exciting world of Radnage Cub Scouts! Cubs is open to boys and girls from age 8 to 10½ years old. We meet every Tuesday from 6 until 7.30 during school term time. It is run and organised by a band of volunteers who gladly welcome input from parents. Cubs enjoy a fun program of indoor and outdoor activities which focus around outdoor adventure, creative pursuits and community projects. Cubs camp out at least once a year and spend time learning outdoor skills such as campfire cooking and building, map reading and navigation, tent erecting, and hiking. So if you're interested in joining cubs contact Cubs now. Cub Camp - Fawley Hill Survival Camp(Photographs in the Gallery) 1st Radnage Scout group successfully completed the Cub Camp at Fawley Hill "Safari Park". 30 Cubs took part in a Survival weekend sleeping under bivvies and cooking over open fires. A three mile hike to the camp was the start on Saturday (28th June) and most of this was in very wet rain! On arrival the 4 sixes had to collect firewood and then start the construction of their bivouacs. During this time archery instruction also took place. Saturday evening entertainment was conducted by the cubs around a large open fire. Luckily a dry night followed and all cubs survived sleeping in the safari park, surrounded by wallabies, many deer and antelope, plus Rudolf. The next morning after a hearty breakfast the cubs had a guided tour of a private railway museum. A further 3 mile hike to Henley on Thames followed. After cold ice creams to cool everyone down the finale of the weekend camp was a surprise cruise on the river Thames past the Regatta course. We are pleased to say that all the cubs successfully made it back to their parents at the end of the day. |
